An employee of an Ohio brewery only wants to survive during this Lent with beer
For Christians, Lent marks a period of sacrifice and reflection of 46 days observed until Easter. For an Ohio brewery worker, it means giving up food and common sense this year, as he tries to survive with nothing but beer and beer. water throughout the religious period.
According to numerous media reports, Del Hall of the Fifty West Brewing Company of Cincinnati, Ohio, inspired Bavarian monks of the seventeenth century who traditionally fasted to Lent during Lent.
"It would be their liquid bread, and that's what they call it," says Hall, about the surviving Doppelbock monks. However, he plans to mix things up and drink several styles of beer during the fasting period.
Hall's previous fasting experience would seem to be limited and the brewery worker says he is "nervous" about this prospect. But Hall claims to have a "game plan" (which he has not yet revealed) and says his previous professional and personal achievements put him at the service of this challenge.
"I am a veteran of the army. So you know I was the number one in my class in the Army, "says Hall. "I've already run a full marathon: 26.2 miles."
You may be concerned that being a military or participating in a marathon is not the only preparation necessary to survive for 46 days only with beer. (We, too.) Fortunately, Hall says that he will also periodically show up with a doctor.
